Title: AVAST 2016 (2016.11.1.2241)
Post by: MartinZ on November 03, 2015, 01:06:34 PM
Hi all,

I am proud to announce new version AVAST 2016 (build number 2016.11.1.2241). It introduces a brand new feature for managing your passwords and sensitive data, called Passwords. You can also sync your passwords to your mobile phones running Android or iOS. We also completely redone the SafeZone, now called SafeZone browser and running as a standalone browser with extra security features. The user interface got a fresh look to work better even on touch and high resolution displays.

What's new:

NEW: Passwords - Avast can now manage your passwords and generate strong passwords for you. Just one password to remember.
 - checks your passwords security
 - stores your passwords securely
 - includes browser extensions for easier logging in and form filling
 - generates strong passwords

Android app:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avast.android.passwordmanager
iOS app:        https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/avast-passwords/id1037779526?mt=8

NEW: SafeZone browser - Replaced the SafeZone for safer shopping and banking in Pro, Internet Security and Premier
 - Pay Mode: It isolates the session and protects it from possible keyloggers or other malicious software secretly lurking on your computer. With Pay Mode you can perform all your financial transactions in peace, without fear of your password or other personal details being stolen. Pay Mode runs automatically on banking site, but it can be also turned on manually.
 - Shielded Window: To open there suspicious websites and to ensure full anonymity
 - Ad Blocking: includes built in ad blocker extension
 - Video downloading for offline viewing
 - Easy setup: Automatically imports your bookmarks, history and cookies from your current default browser

NEW: User interface - More space for content, easy control

NEW: Feedback possible directly from program - report bugs, feature requests and other suggestions easier

IMPROVED: Home network security now detects more router vulnerabilites and shows more details

IMPROVED: Installation - it should be now faster and less obtrusive.

IMPROVED: WebShield HTTPS Scanning - We introduced a new method of HTTPs scanning. It is used in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. It works without changing the certificates and the security parameters and certificates are verified by the browser itself, including checks for untrusted or revoked certificates.

+ Many other minor tweaks and bug fixes

How to install:

1. Update from existing Avast version via Settings -> Update -> Update program

2. Or you can download and install from here:

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe

Update appears to have gone fine although it didn't automatically offer to update at the end of an OTT installation from the installer. It also re-enabled data sharing which had previously been unticked.

Hi,

updated automatically in the background to the final version of Avast 2016.

Seems to run fine so far.

Hopefully the final Android app for Passwords will follow soon.

PS. We also prepared some Avast 2016 German release notes (http://forum.avadas.de/threads/7280-Avast-2016-11-1-2241) for those interested.

I never like it when what was an RC3 build is now the regular release - it really should have its own build number - that way there is no confusion what people have or are talking about with build 11.1.2241 (RC or regular release).
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178549.0

This would also cloud the Program Release History - http://www.avast.com/en-gb/release-history - which in itself needs an update, last program release history entry is for 10.3.2223 released on 2015-07-13.

I didn't participate in beta testing of 2016 however have followed all posts from XP users.
Will Upgrade asap via GUI from last 2015 Release version and see what transpires given some of the issues expressed by fellow XP users. :)

Installed over previous version. There was no notice to reboot to finish installation.
Also I had to add English as second GUI language again.
Otherwise, everything looks good.

Still getting browsing issues in both avast forums and uk.yahoo.com (pages fail to load), but why would I be surprised as I was getting this on RC3 and this is the same damn build number.

Smart scan, which used to take 2.5-3 minutes, had to be killed after 25 minutes, still 0%. (Win10 pro, x64). Something is not quite right.

Yes David thanks, I've also followed our friend Asyn's posts and others.
As soon as I'm at my xp I intend to upgrade and am interested to see if problems posted Re:xp users will show on my OS configuration or maybe the upgrade will be issue free. :P ;)

I dont like the new GUI.. infact its just a new face i.e main GUI.. other stuffs are the same old.. and the main GUI is average.. just a window with some texts & couple stuffs & full of white spaces.
And seems ads, GUI ads, chrome/toolbar install, etc... still there.

I tried system restarting & shutdown & the same i.e on first try it gives error & second try no error.
So continued the install with second try & install completed & seems fine.
But uninstalled.. reason mentioned in the previous post here.

I kinda feel ya. It's changed just for the sake of being changed. It's not actually changed or improved in any usable way. The settings are EXACTLY the same as for the last 2 versions, only thing it changed was the theme so to speak. It's a bit lazy. I'd frankly forgive just the change of year number from 2015 to 2016 keeping the GUI exactly the same than these forced "updates" that don't really bring anything productive. But hey, that's just me...

Just did the update for the Free Edition, and the main GUI has changed for the worse.  The shortcut icons are gone, replaced with one option: Run Smart Scan
The customizable shortcuts was one of the best features of the previous version.

I've attached a screen shot.  I can't find a way to launch the Software Updater.  I only see it under Settings, which is not the same thing.  I've right-clicked all over the place to see if the main GUI is customizable, but it doesn't seem to be.

So, I'm not sure what the point of this update is.  Should I uninstall and do a fresh install?

Thanks.

Congrats on the new version! I have been a loyal Avast user since 2005.

I run on Vista Home Premium SP3.

The previous 2 versions of Avast free were an unmitigated nightmare. While browsing, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox crashed, the laptop froze and I had to hard reboot. This happened 2-3 times a day. Other users reported the same in various threads in here.

I had to roll back to version 2218 and all the problems - repeat: ALL the problems - vanished overnight! My comp hums along contentedly.

I am afraid to install the new version (2016). I am terrified of going through the same catastrophic mess. In short: I am post-traumatic ...:o))

Does anyone with Vista care to share if there are any problems with 2241 (crashes, freezing, restarting, etc.)?

Many thanks for your understanding and support.

Yarok

Also it shows me internal server error when signing in to avast account via GUI. Signing in to avast account via website shows no problem, but it still shows me that Home network security is not installed and give a red colour and also on my name MyName - HP it says unknown. I reported this issue few times and still not fixed. By the way, about the internal server error i already gave the feedback via gui. Hope Avast team reads it.

Edit: Signing in to Avast GUI works now, but there's a problem that i reported few times and still not solved. You can review it by one of my support ticket. Ticket number is #BYU-790-31187

Run Smart Scan is all you need to do - I think telemetry will show it's all most users do.

Looks OK so far.

Two issues:
1) Seems to have duplicated all of my devices in my online account.  Weird.  Licenses don't show duplicates, but I have dupes of every device in the device list.

2) Don't know where to access the scan history.  I liked that tool in the older version.

Positives:
1) Quick update was glitch free.

Mine updated but still has the beta tag. Should I do a clean install?

If you had previously used the beta versions, you are on the beta stream - so should another beta come out you would get it.

If you are happy that this is intentional then leave it - otherwise do a reinstall to the latest version and you will be of the beta stream and no Beta branding on the UI.

<snip>
1) Seems to have duplicated all of my devices in my online account.  Weird.  Licenses don't show duplicates, but I have dupes of every device in the device list.

2) Don't know where to access the scan history.  I liked that tool in the older version.
<snip>

1. the accuracy of the my.account.com has been mentioned by others and I believe it is being revamped as it is hard for it to know when an installation has been uninstalled, etc.  I had to delete not just duplicates but all devices involved in the duplication and then connect (login) from the UI.

2. Just click the Scan icon that expands the options - then click the Scan for Viruses (not very intuitive if looking for scan history). This allows you to select a scan, so nothing runs immediately, at the bottom of that page you have other options, one being the Scan History.

Avast NG front end is persistent and taking cpu cycles.  In the past when you first installed Avast, it took a couple minutes to prepare itself then faded into the background.  Now it just stays constantly working.

Can you be more specific ?

Avast has several areas in which it uses memory.

Personally I don't check memory usage as a matter of course, only if I were to find things running slow in which case I would check resource use CPU and RAM. Otherwise I just get on with what I'm doing.

Like just about any new feature, there seem to be major bugs in the new Password thing.  After supposedly setting it up properly for Firefox, including deleting the browser's saved passwords and removing permission for Firefox to save new entries, on only one occasion did it properly provide a good new password.  And the box where it offers to do so often won't permit any entry, but instead shows a number in a circle -- on one occasion it actually changed my user-name instead of the password.  :o

After a few hours the Password icon mysteriously disappeared from the Firefox toolbar and I was totally unable to access it.

I suspect the problem may tie in with the almost simultaneous update of Firefox (to 42.0) and an unexpected incompatibility between the new versions of each.  I've mostly recovered by disabling the Passwords extension (avast still shows it as integrated with the browser, interestingly) and restoring a backup profile, which at least gives me most of my old passwords back into Firefox.  Still can't get logged into Amazon or my ISP's customer service ("incorrect" username-password combo in both cases), although the latter will on request do the cleanup from their end.

Hopefully Avast and Mozilla will get their heads together and straighten this mess out quickly, since it's fairly critical.

Hopefully

Oh, it was simply just a curiosity on how efficient it runs compared to the other versions, which ran pretty efficiently and rarely used a ton of RAM..

I run custom full system scans and not once did I see any way possible to delete a custom scan.
To be honest, I never even looked for a way to delete a custom scan. I set-up my custom scan
then forget about it till the next clean install.

Like RejZoR I'm asking how does a user delete a custom scan?  ???

I'm confident in saying that there are some users who set-up a custom scan to run once and never use it again.
They, the user, have a particular and precise reason for running a custom scan and won't need to run it again...ever.
It would be nice to know how to delete a custom scan.

Frankly, I'm impressed with the fact that all is running extremely smooth on my xp with no issues with installed modules
-Safezone is working great, a little high on resources for this old machine but useable.
-New Password feature work nicely
-Full system scan smooth and fairly short compared to other versions
-Software Updater just fine.
-No Problem Surfing with FF latest and I like the new SafeZone and PayMode

I can't speak for the Free Version but after running everything I need on my Avast Premier, I would renew very easily.
Nice Job and Learning the new GUI is just that, Learning a new GUI ;)

The Avast Safezone is better than the previous one.
But, it always bugged me with Saving Password even though, "Offer to save passwords I enter on the web" is unchecked.
A bug, I guess.

Well I'm just getting used to the new GUI also. You have to just take your time and go through the whole UI.
I'm not at the laptop now but I think if you Click on SCAN at the top of the Home/Main GUI there should be a drop down menu visable with all the available scans if you click on it ( I think??) :-\

Interesting situation with the toolbar icon. It it tested to work well with both Firefox 41 and 42 under normal circumstances. Could it have happened that the add-on got uninstalled or disabled during the update to 42?

Regarding the "good new passwords", it might be just a different expectation from some feature. It would be great if you could provide screenshots.

This is exactly the confusion I mentioned when they keep the same build number as the last RC build. A new release should always have a new build number even if nothing has changed.

The trouble is, and it has been alluded to by many posters, builds beyond 2218 have a "heavier" effect
on the general system response.  Especially noticeable on older systems.

So has anybody with a vista 32 bit system tried Avast 2016? Have they fixed the computer freezing while browsing problem?

Anyone cares to share their experiences with Vista 32 and 2241 (Avast 2016, the latest version)? I am afraid to install it as i had a terrible time with the preceding 2 versions. Had to roll back to 2218.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, no screenshots available ... I just checked FF add-ons, and both Passwords and SafePrice extensions are showing as installed but disabled, and considering I seem to have everything else working properly again, I'm gonna leave them that way for now.

It's a shame, I'm one of the unfortunates who has to re-use the same password everywhere (brain injury 20 years ago would make it impossible to remember good but different passwords), and a properly working password manager would have been the ideal solution.  I take it that unless and until someone else can replicate my problem, I can't hope for a fix?  I haven't as yet tried any of the 3rd-party managers, and was delighted -- temporarily, unfortunately -- to see it become available in avast, which I've happily used for maybe 15 years now.

And NG sandbox is not working. AGAIN. Everything checked, but there was no NG generating process and there is no secure sandbox process running. That's really annoying that some critical feature just out of the blue doesn't get installed or work even though it is selected (and has worked 2 weeks ago on the exact same system). Ugh!?!?!

Hi! i just wanted to confirm something about the Virus Chest in the taskbar after you right click the Avast UI like this:

My concern is that i put password protection on all PROTECTED AREAS including Virus Chest Control but when i click the Virus Chest option in the taskbar,i can access the Virus Chest Control directly without it asking for any password at all.Is it just me or someone out there has the same problem? Password protections are working on all protected areas except this Virus Chest option from the taskbar. Thanks.

What happened to the Virus Chest in the new version 11.1.2241? Can't find it anywhere...

Or right click the avast tray icon and select virus chest.

Time spent on reconnaissance is seldom wasted ;D

For people concerned about the freezing problems on Vista in previous versions:

I bit the bullet and installed this version this morning. System has been running for 10 hours straight and no problems so far. Before, my computer would freeze after not even 15 minutes of browsing the internet, so I believe the issue is finally solved. I'm guessing it was thanks to the improved Web Shield Https scanning mentioned in the OP.

If I run into a problem, I'll be sure to post. If I don't post again in the next 48 hours, then consider everything is fine.

yes, i did that too, although i seem to remember that requirement was dropped some time ago. i also notice no mention of ng or secure virtual machines on avast .com home page or in faq section of support. only brief mention of avast sandbox. still hoping to learn system requirements to be offered secure virtual machines.
is anyone offered it for install on clean install or in change menu after clean install.
really is not that big of a deal, but if available would rather to have it installed & working.

I just installed Avast 2016 11.1.2241 on a Desktop, a Dell XPS 13, and a Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10.  I notice that the mouse pointer disappears when moving it on the Avast application screens (reappears after moving past the edge of the Avast app screen) using the Dell XPS 13 and Surface Pro 4, the ones that are touchscreen based.  The mouse pointer is fine on my Desktop (non-touchscreen).

You shouldn't be hiding the mouse pointer...  I prefer using the mouse on my laptop, even if it does have a touchscreen, and hiding the mouse forces me to use touch.

Like many others, I have upgraded my free version from 10.4.2233 to 11.1.2241 on one of two Acer computers both running Win7-64. Almost immediately I started having problems. Firefox 41.0.2 and 42.0.0 starting locking up with "Not responding" messages. The Avast control panel, the Show Desktop button, and most aggravating, Meta Products MailChecker would run a few minutes then lock up. Doing an Avast repair, turning off various features, and adding MailChecker to the exclusion list did  not help. I saw some posts that solved similar problems by reverting to earlier versions. In desperation, I uninstalled Avast and now everything is running fine, and much faster. Since the other computer is running 10.4.2233 and slightly slower but not crashing, I'll probably reinstall that version later today. So my question is, how far back in versions can I safely go? I have the full install for the latest four versions.

follow up to sending an email link using Windows Live Mail and Mozilla Firefox. I was getting an error saying WLDCORE.DLL missing and not found after updating Avast 10.4.2233 to 11.1.2241... this applies to Windows Professional and Windows Ultimate 64bit... the fix is to copy the files WLDCORE.DLL and WLDLOG.DLL from folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared and paste to folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail.
I no longer get the error...

I'm very disappointed with Avast Passwords. It loaded all of my passwords from Chrome. In the Avast passwords menu I try to manage my passwords, and the list keeps refreshing over and over. Then when I simply try to scroll down, it automatically scrolls back up to the top so that I can't access any passwords further down the list!

I want Avast to forget my passwords, but I can't even do that. I have to individually select the password and then remove. Is there a select all function? Ctrl + A won't work. The list keeps moving back to the top before I can do anything.

It loads the passwords from your browser if you selected the import button.
I don't know what additional features are available in the paid version. I only use the free version.

When you do a program update from the avastUI, my understanding of the process you will get the latest version. The most recent avast 2015 version was 10.4.2233, it should have been reporting that version number (not 10.2.2233, no such build number) ?

That said I don't know if there would be any OS restrictions here if you had a very old OS (earlier than XP).

FYI Bug Report.. After doing a clean install of this latest version, I've had to go to the Trouble Shooting section and change Avast start-up to "Load Avast after other services have loaded".

Reason: When Avast loads on the front end, it prevented me from accessing the Windows 10 Start menu and the Edge browser.  Can click on them, but nothing happens.  This doesn't occur on every startup, but on every 1 out of every 4 computer startups/restarts.  Have to do the Alt/Control/Delete thing to restart the PC when Avast has killed the Start Menu.

Firefox 42 is supported by Avast Passwords. I suggest to start Firefox, go to about:addons and check that Avast Passwords is there and it's enabled. if it's disabled, enable it. Then, open Avast, go to Settings -> Passwords, scroll down and click "install" into Firefox (again).

Hi Bob.  I did what you suggest.  The error message box in my screenshot shows "Reason: NoSSE2".

I am increasingly aware that older processors are falling by the wayside.  AVG, Agnitum and now Avast have all released software which apparently require SSE2 instructions.  2016 seems to be a SSE2 watershed for security software releases.  SSE2 has been a requirement for Chrome based web browsers since around late 2014.  The writing is on the wall.

Chrome will soon also be endibg support for XP, Vista and OSX 10.8:
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/11/chrome-to-end-support-for-windows-xp-vista-and-os-x-10-8-on-april-2016/ (http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/11/chrome-to-end-support-for-windows-xp-vista-and-os-x-10-8-on-april-2016/)
Sooner or later, all good things come to an end. (That includes us.... ) :)

The list keeps moving back to the top before I can do anything.

i used the custom install when i installed avast and unchecked the password BS, i manage my own passwords , its called "pen and Paper and a 500 pound safe, lol, if your PC crashes your stored passwords are gone ....right ?, so why use a password manager , i hope your issue gets fixed tho.

I have tried re installing this new version but I still get the AvastSvc.exe using 15-20% of my CPU.

It does not start straight away it starts about 5 minutes after I boot.

I am running Avast version 11.1.2241.
Windows 10

It is really annoying me ... any ideas anyone?

The installer will not run on my Windows XP with Athlon XP 3000+ processor.  This processor is not SSE2.

Hi,
I have the same thing on a old PC running the same processor ;
Avast 2015 didn't update from UI, so I try to install from the installer fresh downloaded and have the same message :(

The password feature is, I believe, only available in the Pay version. Also, Avast now has a new
feature, that inserts a line into any email you send that says: "this email was sent from a clean
computer protected by Avast" ... I think you can disable it in Email Options. A somewhat sneaky
way to help advertise the product.

As far as I'm aware, the free version of avast has a limited function set for the Avast Passwords feature - I don't know anywhere that states in detail what is available for free and the premium options in the paid avast versions.

Is your system Vista 32bit or 64?

32 bit.

Everything's still working perfectly by the way.

I took the plunge and my Vista 32 bit computer is still working with the new avast after 2 days. I did have a problem when I updated Fire Fox 42. Seems this FF version has bugs that are related to scripts. Went back to earlier version and it is working well with Avast 2016. Only concern for me now is everything seems to take longer.

As a first time forum user, I'm not sure where to post this question, so please forgive if I've misdirected. We are using several Avast Free installs to protect an after school program computer lab. I want to consolidate device ownership from two Avast users down to one of those two users. Is there an easy way to transfer all devices listed under one account to the other account? I have access to both accounts, but haven't found a way to do that. I have to transfer about 20 machines. Thanks for any help you can provide.

You shouldn't have to double click them, most only have a single click action. If I double click on the Settings Icon (cog wheel) I get the settings window open and the second click results in a beep, but no closure. I just wonder if you had a notification popup behind the UI that is being closed on the double click resulting in a greyed out box, but I don't see that in my avast free.

That said, your layout for the expansion of the Scan screen seems strange as mine appear in columns positioned centrally, see attached image.

You could try an avast repair.

Well, I meant not actually double-clicking but rather "click and click" one after another not too fast :)
I installed only two scan modules and nothing more maybe this is why there is the layout difference.
Anyway, as far as I know for now it's fixed in new beta :)

I made what looks like a mistake,  & allowed the upgrade to the
free version of 11.1.2241 (free version)

The different scans are gone.  It does something called smart scan,
but I have no idea what it is doing, & what it finds.  It seems to hang
at the end when it finds a problem.

I can't schedule scans or do a boot time scan; at least there's no UI for that.

The tools only say that it will flag outdated software, but there's no separate
scan for that, & there's no indication of what it actually finds (see 1st item).
It just indicates something is wrong, & says it will fix it -but probably doesn't.

Can anything be done to fix this?
Is there a way to go back to v 10 safely?
If not, anyone running a good alternative free virus scan they'd recommend?

WebRep is no more, Avast Online Security (AOS) is the new version and should work with firefox 42.0, the AOS add-on is supposedly signed so it should work.

Avast can now sign web mail, but the settings are in the Mail Shield, this is likely to change soon and duplicated in the mail and web shields (for those not using the Mail Shield).
Clean Notes - avastUI > Settings > Active Protection > Mail Shield > Customize > Behaviour - uncheck the unwanted options.

Where has the boot scan option gone to in 2016?  The 2015 UI had it under scans, and now it's not there - build 11.1.2241.  It's why I've used and recommended Avast for a number of years.

Still in the same place essentially - just the front page has changed - avastUI > Scan > Scan for viruses - now select which scan you want from the drop down list.

Updated to 11.1.2241. NG no longer works. Have no option to run deep scan in a virtual machine. NG does not appear on the setup menu when I try to "change" in Programs and Features.

Windows 10 v10.0.10586 x64 Professional. Does VirtualBox not work in Windows 10? I have hardware virtualization on, as I used NG in previous versions of Avast!

Don't know if this is a new problem with 11.1.2241, or something that happened when I upgraded to Windows 10. I haven't checked NG in a while. But NG appears to be unavailable in Windows 10 x64 Pro.

I check back here when I have time but I'm sorry to be slow to reply to you as I'm mostly concerned with keeping my older duo core system functioning and felt others would be better at dealing with your concern for slowness in your much faster computer.  I have turned off Hardware Acceleration and many other features of Avast to increase the speed of my older system. By doing this I have returned some speed back. Bottom line for me is if my computer is too slow I can't use it anymore.

I too am concerned about these performance hits on my other newer systems and for this reason I too am beginning to look for a faster less bloated AV but combining too many changes makes it harder to tell what is slowing things down. I have not tried windows 10 yet for this reason and I have seen many post that say they can't even get Avast and win 10 to work together. I'm glad that at least for you that win10 an Avast are working together. Try turning off any features you don't use. I do believe in my case turning off the Hardware Acceleration did the most to restore basic speed to my older system.

I have no time to spare to experiment and fine tune.
This is why, for the moment, I have regressed to avast 2015, that is working fine in my configuration.

I will check if future updates of avast 2016 are more resource efficient.
If not, it will be "bye-bye avast".

Avast seems to be working on that machine (the icon appears in the system tray and a Smart Scan completed successfully), but how do I know whether or not something got messed up during the Avast installation which generated the Blue Screen error?

If I understand you correctly, NG worked prior to updating Avast however you also upgraded to Windows 10 which could have corrupted Avast files.
A "Clean Install" of the Avast software will/ has solved many similar issues.

I did an over-install of my already existing Avast, with no uninstall. That activated the NG environment. Somehow it got left out of my install at some point.

NG is a bit weird by design. In the past it started "compiling" soon after installation. Now you have to leave PC idle and NG command tool will appear among processes until avastVirtualBox appears and NG disappears. Very confusing, there should be a progress bar that lets user know it's preparing something and how far it is.

The password feature is, I believe, only available in the Pay version.
<snip>

As far as I'm aware, the free version of avast has a limited function set for the Avast Passwords feature - I don't know anywhere that states in detail what is available for free and the premium options in the paid avast versions.

Avast passwords is in all editions so also in free avast. Basic functionality is for free including synchronisation with mobile devices (iOS, Android). There are paid features, which are making usage of avast passwords more comfortable, you can see comparison of both editions of Avast Passwords at the bottom of this page https://www.avast.com/passwords (https://www.avast.com/passwords)

I installed the new version on my WinXP svcpack 3 computer and it is using 99% of my memory constantly.
Should I try reinstalling?
-------
I tried to repair installation and still had same problem.
In Avast 'Statistics' it shows the following files being repeatedly scanned:
http://192.168.2.1:36477/ctl/cmnIFcfg
http://192.168.2.1:36477/ctl/cmnIFcfg
http://192.168.2.1:36477/ctl/cmnIFcfg
http://192.168.2.1:36477/ctl/cmnIFcfg
http://192.168.2.1:36477/ctl/IPconn
-------
I unistalled avast, rebooted, ran malwarebytes, ran ccleaner to fix registry issues, downloaded AvastFree from link provided in this original post. Seems to be fixed and back to normal.

Today I found one really frustrating bug which was not present in 2015.

What is the point of enabling user to override application rule when connection was already established (AvastFirewall1.png), because Avast ignored the setting that it should explicitly ask for every (new) connection (AvastFirewall2.png)?

After update, the Avast account shows up Again with the message:

"The online content is unavailable
Please, check your internet connection and try again."

Nothing happens when clicking Reload button. What's the error?

Hi arrowhead753, welcome to the forum :)

I beleve you mean ( from Googling it  ) Quicken Personal Finance software ?
As SafeZone has become a Safe Browser, you can't run software in it anymore.

Hello Rednose,

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, Quicken Deluxe from intuit.  Can I say that?  Anyway, that sucks.  Because I used Quicken in Safe Zone the files are invisible outside of Safe Zone.  Any idea how to find those?

Thanks!
