Title: After recent Avast client update, Windows reports "No Virus Protection"
Post by: /# Thomas #/ on December 31, 2015, 08:56:59 PM
This appears to be a bu. After the latest client update rolled out to machines, they are all reporting "Windows did not find any antivirus on this computer".

It was reporting correctly before the latest client update. The client reports that it is up to date, and it has the latest definitions, and the latest license.

Any way to resolve this issue? Is Avast going to release an update to the client to resolve this error? I realize that Avast support personnel rarely respond on these threads, but I would find it hard to believe we are the only ones with this issue.

Windows 7 Professional, 32 & 64
Avast Client:
- Program Version: 8.0.1606
- Virus definitions version: 151231-0 (i.e. today)
- Subscription valid until: 10/29/2016

searched on main forums... found:

- 180471 "New workstation version" https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=180471.0 (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=180471.0)

led to:

- 180431 "v 8.0.1606 and Security center error" https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=180431.msg1277910#msg1277910 (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=180431.msg1277910#msg1277910)

Which implies there is a Microsoft hotfix to resolve this issue, and it may have nothing to do with Avast.

I will update if the MS hotfix does resolve my issue, in case anyone else has the same problem.
