Title: Big problems on windows 10 Avast 8.0.1606
Post by: REDACTED on January 18, 2016, 04:29:10 PM
Ok... it's a bit chaotic here...  I'm listing the problems I have, please help !

When upgrading windows 10 from 7 or 8 :
The existing user profiles are OK.  We log with a new user on the windows 10 station and the start menu won't show.  Also, the task bar is empty and the search files doesn't work.  Basically, only what's on the desktop works.

On any Windows 10 stations :
The keyboard doesn't work.  It sounds silly I know, but it's really Avast causing this.

On any Windows 8 to 10 stations :
The upgarde to 8.0.1606 causes blue screens.  It depends on the computers, most of the time, it's once a day.  On others, it's more.

For each problems, we uninstall, then reinstall.  The worst is the keyboard problem.  It may come back, or not.  On some computers, we uninstalled Avast 4 times.  On each and every case, if we don't re-install Avast, every problems are solved...

I know this doesn't fix your problems but just know your not alone. We have been seeing blue screens since the update. Seems to be on specific hardware and not just random for us.

We've started removing Avast on Windows 10.

We're looking to move to windows defender at the moment... may be not as safe as Avast, but at least it works on windows 10 with no problems.

Moving to Avast business (cloud) made a huge improvement.  We're going to move our client from 8.0.1606 (EAS) to 11.1.2510 (business cloud).  No problems so far and the live chat support is really good.

We've had the same experience switching to the Business version. Windows 10 is working great now. Fresh installs and upgrades alike.
We do have a few dell optiplex 7020s that lose the ability to UNC/Open shared folders though.
