Title: Seems like Avast! Free is slowing down the Windows 10 logon process
Post by: REDACTED on March 03, 2016, 05:32:05 PM
I have two computers both running Windows 10 Pro and Avast! Free and I've noticed how the logon process every now and then is very slow. After I entered my credentials and the 'Welcome' animation starts spinning it sometimes takes up to 30 seconds before I'm at the desktop. I would say I see this about 7 times out of 10. For the 3 times when I don't see the problem the logon process only takes a couple of seconds before I get to the desktop.

I've tried disabling Avast! in an attempt to find the culprit and so far with Avast! disabled I haven't seen the problem once so it does seem like Avast! plays a role in this.

Anyone else experienced the same issue?

When you boot the system avast is looking for updates.
Streaming updates, vps updates, application updates.
Not saying it is, but it can be that when there are a lot of updates the booting time increases.

Don't worry about it I would say.

Yeah, maybe you're right and of course it's not a big deal. Just a bit annoying having to wait for like 30 seconds on every second logon.

For fast boot times with Windows...
Get a P1, put in the maximum amount of ram the best possible graphics card and such.
Over-clock it and put Windows 3.11 on it ;D
