Title: Restricted users availability
Post by: DaleOnyon on January 03, 2006, 09:17:51 PM
I set up a computer for my boys using the Administrator account.  Setup included loading the Avast Home edition.  However, when logging on as one of my sons using restricted priveleges, Avast doesn't seem to be actually running.  If I change their permissions to Administrator, Avast appears to be running normally.

Is Avast running for a restricted user by default, if not is there a way I can set it up so it does run for a restricted user?

By the way I'm using Win2K Pro

avast! should work correctly under restricted account, provided you install it under Administrator account, enter the license key as Administrator, and don't limit (read) access to necessary files/registry keys for the restricted account.

DaleOnyon, two suggestions:

1. Do not downgrade from Admin to common user and, on contrary, upgrade. This could mess access permition to programs and your Windows. I have trouble in the past. Maybe I've done something wrong but just a friend suggestion.

2. Do not use more than one account with Admin privileges (same reasons).

But, about your 'problem', avast works fine with one Admin account and others common. No problems at all.
