Title: firewall message

hi new to the forum so please redirect me if this is in the wrong place
ive got Avast premier but keep getting a attention notice that says firewall is off when i click turn on i get a small box come up avast information unable to start firewall
any help for this old techno failure would be great

Repair Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
