Title: Avast.ini [MailScanner]. Disappeared ports after booting. [RESOLVED]
Post by: EmDzei on January 06, 2006, 07:35:46 AM
I did changes to avast.ini and saved. On next boot my new ports have disappered. I am talking STunnl, OpenSSL, Outlook Express and Avast co-operation.

Before avast.ini:

[MailScanner]
PopRedirectPort=110,11110
SmtpRedirectPort=25,11025
IgnoreLocalhost=0

And after booting avast.ini:
[MailScanner]
PopRedirectPort=110
SmtpRedirectPort=25
IgnoreLocalhost=1

What I do wrong? Do I need to stop Avast when saving new settings or stop the e-mail module or what? Of course after booting GMail do not work.  :-(

My OS is Windows XP Pro SP2.

How did you make the changes?

Did you just use the "Redirect" tab in the customize option of Internet Mail Scanner or were you directly editing the avast4.ini file?

Yep EmDzei
Safest way would be to backup your original Avast4.ini store it somewhere else. Dissconnect from Internet/
shutdown Avast/ Modify your ini file/Reboot(probably not neccessary) however everything will restart

If you change the settings through the avast GUI, no problems, it should work after that.
Manually changing avast4.ini file requires you 'disable' the Internet Mail provider, make the changes in avast4.ini file, start the provider again.
By the way, is stunnel running after boot? Did you see any error message (into your email program or into Stunell)?

(uh, how I quote text?)

Thanx Tech. Through GUI I succeed. Before it I tryed to shut down Avast and disconnect Internet, but after boot avast.ini has lost my changes again. Yes, nothing problem with STunnel - it loads itself in boot (server). Thank you again! My computer rocks again!  :D

EmDzei, the last check option (that you made a circle arround it) should be checked if you want that avast scans GMail, because:
Internet > Stunnel > through local communication > avast! > email program.
