Title: Scanning PST Files
Post by: REDACTED on March 31, 2016, 02:58:16 AM
I'm collecting Outlook PST files and need a way to scan them to see if they have attachments with viruses.   Files aren't connected to Outlook.  Trying to determine if AVAST! can detect viruses in attachment files.

If you right click on the PST file(s) and select scan, what happens?

You can upload files for testing here  www.virustotal.com  /  www.metadefender.com  /  www.jotti.org

Not for standalone PST files, I'm afraid.
We used to have a "PST unpacker" - using MAPI.dll from the particular system (so you needed to have Outlook installed for it to work), but it had some issues and limitations (you couldn't remove the infected attachment using an on-demand scan), so we removed it.
