Title: Windows 10
Post by: REDACTED on March 31, 2016, 09:01:17 PM
I am considering installing Windows 10. I see that it has a built-in anti-virus package. Can anyone tell me if this will interfere with my Avast Internet Security software?

If you want to use avast, you need to disable Windows Defender.

In Win10 this is Windows Defender of old, but now a full Anti-Virus, when you install a 3rd party antivirus solution (such as avast) then windows 10 should recognise this and automatically disable windows defender.

EDIT: typo.

in Windows 10, Windows Defender is a Full Antivirus now, merged with Microsoft Security Essentials previously offered to Windows 7, Vista and XP users, Same as it was in Windows 8.0 and 8.1

Detection with Defender might be a little less though,  Supposely does disable automatically when Avast is installed though if you wish to use Avast on your Windows 10 Install.

(Former Beta Tester of Microsoft Security Essentials til Windows 8.0 came out)

I rather think you can guess the answer on the avast support forums.

Well Avast has better Protection I feel these days, better possible performance, (perceived factor there), and much faster scanning time than one built into Windows 10 sadly.    Overall it's personal choice of users which program to use that suits there computer protection needs
