Title: SOFTWARE UPDATER EXCLUSIONS
Post by: MrToad on May 08, 2016, 06:01:26 PM
Is there a way to tell Avast not to check certain software for updates?
If not, Please consider adding this feature. Users may not wish some software updated and sometimes the Avast updater tries but fails to  update [Irfanview for example].
Thanks for considering my suggestion.

I have IrfanView on my system and covered by the Software Updater and it updated recently without problem. It has 4.42 on the download as the latest version and 4.4.2 displayed in avast.

To enter the Software Updater  - AvastUI > Scan > Scan for outdated software (Software Updater).

Hello MrToad,

could you please attach Software Updater logfile (usually located in C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\swhealthex.log)? It could help us to solve problem with IrfanView update.

Thank you in advance.

I'm really not so much interested that it won't update irfanview...it updates most others...I can manually update that program.
The real problem for me is that my version of avast,  11.2.2262 the latest available according to the updater, DOES NOT HAVE THE EXCLUDE FEATURE SHOWN IN THE SCREENSHOTS ABOVE. See my screen shot below. If that exclusion option were there, I'd be a happy camper.
Thanks all.

What happens if you click Skip, as this screen appears to be more of an action screen, compared with essexboy and my attached images.

Also strange that it is only showing a single program in the listing, surely you have more programs being monitored ?

What happens if you manually run the software updater, does it give listings like ours ?

My problem was that I was using software updated from the SMART SCAN screen...that version doesn't offer the ignore option as my screenshot shows.
SOLUTION: Rt Click tray icon, open Avast user interface, Scan, Software updater - will show ignore updates options
This expanded software updater shows several up to date programs including irfanview...not sure why that was shown in the smartscan updater which doesn't show other already updated software...but anyway, problem solved.
Thanks all.

You're welcome.

Whilst I don't know this for sure - mainly because this isn't something that I have see in my Smart Scans.  I think it is because the Smart Scan is running three types of scan (collectively) so it is showing and issues in the three areas as something like an interactive choice to either deal with or skip an action.

Running the stand alone Software Updater Scan is dedicated to this so it is displaying  all information and letting you choose an action for individual scans.
