Post by: REDACTED on May 09, 2016, 02:59:12 AM
I use the battery saver to close apps and of I go back 5 mins later it says the same amount of apps need closed. Are they ever not really stopped?

Hello Theresa23,
there are two options in Android Battery Saver to stop apps. The first one doesn't require granting accessibility permissions but stops apps for very limited time interval only. The second option, which require accessibility permissions is supposed to stop apps on your device for longer period or permanently.

Could you please provide us more informations about your device? (Model name, Android version, ROM, ABS version).

Hi Theresa23,
to find ABS (Avast Battery Saver) version go to tools tab and this information can be found last item there "about app".
If you do not use some custom version of Android like Cyanogenmod, you can ignore question about ROM.

We don't have mentioned device here to test it now. Could you please confirm that you went through all steps from this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYAlzkV3UGE), especially granting accessibility (from 0:18) ?
Is it possible to send us similar video from ABS on your device?

Hi Theresa, thanks a lot for the report.

They are really stopped but some apps are able to restart themselves automatically, even after we force stop them for you. That's why you see them listed in Running Apps after you stop them. There's nothing we can do about this because Android doesn't provide an API to stop them in the background and keep them stopped. Instead, we suggest that you not worry about a relatively small number of apps running, and just stop apps when the count gets too high or you want to stop one that's draining in the background. If you don't want these apps running, your only option is to uninstall them.

I generally use the app stopping feature every couple of hours (rather than every 10 minutes), or when I'm concerned about my battery running out soon, or soon after I've been heavily using my device and opening lots of apps at once.

I hope that helps clarify things and we always appreciate feedback like yours.

Jesse, Product Manager

My problem is this, I always get this "the app stopping process is canceled". Idk what's going on.
