Title: not scanning email and IM messages
Post by: hones on January 17, 2006, 06:54:49 PM
hi, I installed avast on my laptop (with email client the bat).
but it does not scan any mails. (no icon in taskbar and no in preferences it says "mails scanned:0"
why is that? pop and smtp scanning is enabled.
wizard says it needs not to be configured, everything works well.
but it doesnt.

Please, check if you have The Bat! plugin of avast!
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Change/Remove.
Then choose Change function in the popup window and check if the plugin called The Bat! is installed.
You must be connected to the internet while using the changing feature.

If it is installed, check into The Bat! settings if it is enabled.

yes plugin is installed. evey plugin but p2p and outlook/exchange (dont use both)

with the bat, the plugin is enabled and says OK
the funny thing, I have a second computer, where the plugin is not enabled. but there mail scanning works fine...

EDIT: i removed the plugin from the bat. now it works!

I think I am to old to unterstand that...   ::)
