Title: Avast Internet Security: Firewall - Ignoring application rules
Post by: REDACTED on June 20, 2016, 02:28:43 PM
I have Avast Internet Security v11.2 and for some reason it totaly ignoring application rules.

I have set Avast to allow in/out for a specific application but incoming connections getting blocked (I dont know for outgoing). It I set to Ask instead of Allow it still just keep blocking without any prompt shown. Also the remote ip is in range of a "friend network", but still not getting allowed.
In the log under Rule it says "Public/High Risk Zone".
The default rule in Firewall Policies is set to Ask, but no prompts shows up.
I have tried to disable the firewall and then back on but with no success.

Why is it like that? And how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for bad English :)

The high risk/public profile serves exactly this purpose - to hide your computer on public networks (block all incoming packets)  without the requirement for you to update each and every app rule.

So, the solution is simple : change to private network profile.

Even better, update to 12.1.2272 where the internals of network profiles in firewall were improved.
