Title: Kaspersky AVZ tool conflict with Avast
Post by: REDACTED on July 28, 2016, 10:40:11 PM
I have run a Kaspersky rootkit removal tool called AVZ and by some reason it hangs up and closes during scanning in AppData folder. I wonder if this could be due to conflict with Avast?

Do you turn on Windows firewall? It may cause this not Avast!.Close all other running applications. Then start.

Actually Windows Firewall was on. Let me try to re-check if it caused the problem

Before you start working with the utility, do the following:
Turn off Windows Firewall.
Launch all web browsers installed on your computer (for example, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari).
Close all other running applications.
Run the AVZ utility.

And for the people who think : " What the hell is AVZ ? "

It is an expert tool, a kind of swiss army knife to fight malware with, created by a Developer from Kaspersky lab.
I won't post a link here, but it is not hard to find.
Use it at your own risk !

I would suspect, given what an anti-rootkit tool does, could well be considered suspect by 'any resident AV.'

That said, you would generally get some sort of alert/dialogue from said resident AV.
