Title: avast! Service high cpu usage ?
Post by: REDACTED on July 31, 2016, 01:31:28 AM
Hello , I've been having problems with avast cpu usage lately.I'm using Internet Security on an i5 laptop , and for some reason the "avast! Service" process takes around 25-30% of my CPU usage and turns the turbo on which makes the laptop really hot. What bugs me the most is the fact that this is happening on a freshly-installed windows 10 (I've reinstalled the OS thinking I might've gotten a virus of some sort) . Any sort of information would be appreciated :)

First thing to do is checking what processes are running (background).
It can be avast is constantly scanning one (or more) of them.

Second thing you can do is performing a repair of avast and check if the problem is solved or not after doing so.
If not solved, perform a clean installation of avast and check again.

Regarding the first thing , there's really nothing unusual considering its a clean install, few chrome modules , avastui process and some standard windows background processes.

I have tried the repair and another install , none of which seem helped.

Update : http://imgur.com/a/dCYFo   , from what i can see here it seems to me that it could be doing some kind of scan because it uses the disk also? Weird thing is that it's been a few days now and it should've ended if it was one. Any thoughts?
