Title: avast - remove and install wont work.
Post by: minsik2 on August 01, 2016, 02:08:40 AM
HI, i had been running avast free antivirus and decided that all the new added stuff wasnt warranted so i uninstalled Avast, then thinking a new install might be simpler and basically what i needed.  I downloaded the online installer and while it was downloading stuff it just sat there with its orange grin cycling and did nothing for hours. I ctl-alt-del task manager killed it and restarted the pc. Then tried again same result. I tried the offline installer and it does the same.
So then I downloaded the "avastclean.exe" and booted into safe mode, it appeared to remove and rebooted. running avast installeR caused the same result, just the initial orange installer going round and round for hours and not doing anything.
Windows 10 64bit all updates applied.

I have tried cleaning the internet and temp  files cache, rebooted the pc so many times, and still no further forward.
I have had to resort to an alternative antivirus for the time being.
Any other advice? To be able to fix this impass?
I just want antivirus and not all the other stuff but now i am stuck in this no mans install land.
