Title: A bit confusing offer...
Post by: RejZoR on August 06, 2016, 04:23:44 PM
Isn't safe online banking now also part of free version with SafeZone browser? Keeps you safe from fake websites? Isn't that Web Shield and browser extension's job? It's a good offer, but the description is a bit confusing if not even a bit deceiving as well.

User interface designed to trick people.  It's called dark patterns.
Plenty of stuff on the web about this

I'd wager the comparison chart is a bit obsolete and needs to be updated to reflect new components in Avast Free.  In short, webpage needs to be fixed.

I mentioned this before when these new elements came to the free version. The web shield (also what was the network shield now incorporated into the web shield) and associated browser extensions/add-ons covers phishing, a.k.a. fake sites.

I highly doubt that the free version only 'Blocks viruses and malware.' It needs a review and one that isn't misleading.

This was actually an interface itself, not webpage.

Whilst it may be displayed in the UI, I think it was Igor or Vlk that mentioned some of the data displayed is imported into the UI. I don't know if this falls into this category.

Could be it's dynamically linked to online content. Either way, they need to update it imo.

No doubt it needs to be updated and made to reflect the free version updated/added functionality.

Doing so might reduce sales of the paid versions. :)

Add the Sandbox to run suspicious files and no ads in the paid versions within the updated UI - I'm sure it will make a difference.
