Why is Avast marking these items as "Unnecessary"? Do I really not need them? It seems like Avast is confused, or am I mistaken?

No you don't need them to run at boot-time.

So it's only going to remove it from my startup applications and not all together?

If so, it makes much more sense now.

Yes, they only are removed from the "reg run" in the registry.
