On Feb. 3, 2006, there is supposed to be a scheduled attack by the BlackWorm (MyWife.d) virus. Will avast! Antivirus protect us against this in any way?

Yes, a forum search for BlackWorm (or its other aliases, Kama Sutra worm, Nyxem.E, MyWife, and Grew.A ) should return this information.
