Title: Is Avast.com/connect part of Avast?
Post by: REDACTED on October 09, 2016, 03:12:02 AM
Hello,
a few hours ago I had a problem downloading my updated avast software and when I called the 866-951-7679 the rep had me let him connect to my computer to make changes by going to Avast.com/connect and granting him permission to enter my computer.

Was this safe? Is this address really Avast?
I am really worried now if they still have access to my computer or if they planted spyware on it.

Please let me know if this was safe or if I should be worried.
Thank you

Welcome to the forum.
The question you're asking should have been asked before you granted someone access to your computer.
You were lucky this time. You may not be lucky the next time if you simply grant access to your computer without first
making sure the person accessing your system isn't a crook. Remember that security starts with you. Stay safe, be vigilant and always be cautious. :)
