Viruses are generally detected by their signatures or patterns and those signatures are kept in a file, usually encrypted to avoid false detection).

So my S.W.A.G. Scientific Widle Ass*d Guess would be Virus Pattern Signature/s

How does this differs with streaming updates actually? Just asking out of curiosity...

With the release of v2014 avast has implemented "continuous streaming updates".
This gives the user up-to-the-minute protection. The CSU happens approximately every
3 1/2 to 4 minutes. Whenever there is a "regular" vps update the old CSU is included/cleaned.
Regular vps updates can also include minor "fixes".  :)

Streaming updates as mentioned come every 3/4 minutes, full VPS update might only come 1/2/3 times a day or sometimes none.

Yes, so? I had a question and thought better to post than to start a new topic(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v687/charleybaak/Smiley-divers/scared.gif) Let's just say I put the forum search to a good use  (http://www.kurts-smilies.de/help2.gif)
