Title: Avast Internet Security collection of issues
Post by: REDACTED on October 27, 2016, 03:46:05 PM
Hello Forums!

I'm dumping some issues here for documentation, as I did not find a fitting report function for this. These issues refer to
Avast Internet Security (Free), version 12.3.2280 (build 12.3.3154.19) on Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1 (German)
Issues with menu
Clicking the cog in the desktop menu opens the settings. Now, the Avast desktop menu window is unclickable (error sound).
(unexpected behaviour)

Clicking the speech bubble in the desktop menu opens the Feedback window.
While typing the report, clicking the question mark icon in the desktop menu CLOSES the report and opens the help window.
This deletes the unfinished report.

While the feedback or help window are open, moving the mouse back to the desktop menu window and hovering on any of the Feedback, Help, Minimize or Close buttons brings the desktop menu window to front as soon as the hover text appears. (unexpected behaviour)

Issue with other programs

I was able to fix all these connection and startup related problems by UNINSTALLING:
Merely disabling them or disabling Avast for 10 minutes did not work.

Did anyone experience similar problems? Why are these programs affected and not others like Steam or Dropbox?

Kind regards,
Clemens

The only item on your list that could effect the programs mentioned is the Firewall.
Setting it up properly would probably have avoided conflicts.
I use the free version which has no firewall. No problem here with Skype.
Hopefully someone else can help you with the Avast firewall settings.

Exactly my thoughts. I'm posting this here because I suspect that the firewall module, although disabled, interfered with certain programs.

You could uninstall the firewall and see if one (or more) of the problems are solved.
Something else you can do is looking in the avast log files to see if anything is mentioned that can be (or is) related to one (or more) of the problems.
