Title: MBAM 3.0 and Avast
Post by: jimb11 on November 18, 2016, 12:15:58 AM
They say that if you have mbam 3.0 you don't need a anti-virus. So if you use mbam 3.0 will you give up avast or not?

I could use both  I have a lifetime license key with Malwarebytes. Also if you help them test the beta they will give you a free lifetime  license key as stated on wilders forums. If you have a 1 year key and download the beta they will change your 1 year key into a lifetime just PM  rubber ducky. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/malwarebytes-3-0-beta.389946/page-4

MBAM 3 Pro has indeed been made to use as a sole protective solution if you wish but at the same time Malwarebytes have also stated it can be run as a layered solution alongside your choice of AV, exclusions should be put in place between AV and MBAM 3 which are mentioned on the Malwarebytes forum.

Before getting too excited, let's wait for am AVtest / AV comparatives  assessment.

Remember ThreatFire?

Why ??? Malwarebytes has always been used as the first go-to tool for removing infections and has always been recommended as an excellent companion to run alongside other AV's.

What's Theatfire got to do with it  ???

MBAM was traditionally used for removing infections not removed by other AV's..

Up to yesterday they claimed that MBAM is not an AV replacement, that targets mostly "zero days", and there is a long list of items "not targeted" by MBAM.

In time many vendors claimed a "signature less" 100% detection, yet all failed.

All my detection in the last 15 years were based on signatures and not on fancy things like behavior blocker, HIPS, etc.

It's those fancy things that will become more common as the delivery method of todays malware/ransomware is getting smarter, I think you need to read up on the way Malwarebytes works and their new detection methods, their forum is a good place to start :)

Avast also has some fancy things ;D

Signature detection never helped any one running into a brand new infection.
It's the "fancy" things that can make detection without a signature possible.
What worked 15 years ago is now ancient history. Time to get updated. :)
