Title: Ad-Aware Web Companion
Post by: greyowl on December 04, 2016, 07:08:05 PM
I use Avast Free on my XP laptop and browse with SeaMonkey.
I am wondering if Ad-Aware Web Companion would add a significant security boost.
Would this be just a duplication of what Avast does?
Thanks for the advice.

It does the same as avast Webrep/AOS.
Only difference is the database that is used for blacklisted domains/IP's.

I think Ad-Aware use Bitdefenders block list

This is a guess, since they use Bitdefenders AV engine so i may be wrong

Thanks for the information.

Does avast Webrep/AOS work with SeaMonkey?  I don't see it in the extensions for SeaMonkey.

If not add a DNS filter to your router, then evrything behind the router is protected

Try Norton dns or opendns
