Title: Avast For Business Free
Post by: REDACTED on December 05, 2016, 10:51:30 AM
Hello,

I would like to check, for Avast for Business Free, will the settings in the central management overwrite the scheduled scan set on the client?
As from my understanding, the free version do not have the option to set the scheduled scan on the clound manager.

Hope someone can clarify this.

Thank you.

Yes.

Settings in the console (as they should) always overwrite the ones on a client.

It is plain logic.
If there is a setting on the client that is not in the console, the console will not overwrite anything as it doesn't know about the setting.

You could disable the communications service on the client to prevent the console settings from taking place, but this disconnects the client completely and it is then a stand alone client.

You can submit a scan as a task from the console. So while not on a schedule you can send the command to the clients at an off-peak time to run (just manually)

Thank you all for the reply.

So is there any other way for me to set a scheduled scan on the client using the free version?

Set it on the client.

The free product contains a lot, but some features are in the paid version. I suggest contacting your local reseller and see what they can offer you for the paid version, you will not be disappointed.

I use a browser extension that lets me click a button on the toolbar and it opens all my daily sites.  I added one to it that opens up the Tasks page every other day and, from there, I push a Quick Scan to everybody.  A few clicks, no trouble.

Thank you all. After playing around with it a little more, I figure out the task function could able to send the task to all devices.
That works for the time being.

Thank you once again.

Is it still free? On polish site I hadn't found this information. I checked before and it was option for "free"

Couldn't find any reference to the free version anymore either.

Free Version is gone. Existing Free users get to keep their free licenses but no more free licenses will be issued.

Actually if you go to  that link all you get is a free 30 day trial now.

The free product is gone, it was doomed the moment they bought AVG. AVG had a successful competing product that was not free, and they are not going to cannibalize their own product
