Title: 17.1.2283
Post by: Charyb-0 on January 22, 2017, 12:31:16 AM

First image: The obnoxious size of the GUI goes without saying. Also, it is very slow to open.

Second image:
Real Site: "Now you can bank and shop without a care in the world." This is a bit misleading plus it was off by default.

Third image:
Could not delete installer after installation was complete. Had to reboot for this to happen.

First image: Unidentifiable artifacts. And, instead of "Valid till" (or 'til), How about "Valid until:"? I never hear anyone use it in this form (till). It seems lazy. I suppose it's alright if you are plowing a field.

Second image: Why are all of these in the on position when I subscribe to none of it?

The artefacts look like rounded corner pieces, almost like the rest of a box was missing.

Some of those are free, restricted, versions almost like a taster (limited Passwords or restricted Cleanup) to get you to purchase the full thing.

I don't have any of those as I did a clean custom install and unchecked virtually everything bar the shields. You should be able to uninstall those components in the same way as other avast components.

The results of a smart scan showing performance issues. As you can see, Avast's results do not show the same results as Windows. Much of which Avast shows as enabled is actually disabled. As far as I can tell, the Skip button does nothing. I can no longer run the Smart Scan from the Status page of the GUI or the Protection page due to this.

1. That is the hook, listing the things that could be effecting performance. If you try to apply that/cleanup, I feel it will head off the avast store.

2. The problem being if you do checks with many performance/cleanup tools you will get many different returns, as we really don't know exactly what they are looking for.

I understand the hook, but the information provided is misleading/incorrect. I install everything in the Beta because I want to see and try everything and won't be installing any of the above once the final release is available.

If I click on the Protection tab then go over to the Help/? at the right of the status page the protection option disappear. Then, when I close help, the Protection tab options will no longer open unless I click on a different tab first. This is the same for Protection, Privacy, and Performance tabs.

The Notification icon shows that there is one new notification available. There are none.

As you can see, with the window moved to the top of my monitor, the OK and cancel buttons are located behind the taskbar. I had to unlock and move the taskbar to save these settings.

edit: same goes for webshield settings.

Behavior shield monitoring was off by default. Why?

1.  Cleanup - I can't say if it is misleading or incorrect as I never installed cleanup in any of the previous avast versions and I'm currently avoiding the 17.3.xxxx  beta. I see too many issues reported, ordinarily I partake in all beta testing, but seeing the first images of the Purple UI put me right off.

2.  The Help function - Several people have reported the help option isn't acting as it should.

3.  The Notification icon - this issue has been widely reported and RejZoR has even done a comprehensive video of that.

4.  UI Size - right from the very start people have been complaining about the UI size (not just in this version). I have long said that the UI needs to be resizeable in both smaller and larger. I have a win7 netbook that I use infrequently (now I have a new laptop), it has a 1024X600 screen.

Hopefully, it will be corrected before the final release.

What happened to the HIPS settings?

HIPS is replaced by IDP from AVG with its own behavior shield settings as standalone component in the GUI.

So far this has been my least favorite design due to how large everything is and the inability to reduce the UI to a more manageable size.

... reduce the UI to a more manageable size.
That's my meaning, too.
