Title: [2283] No new AOS included?
Post by: =Snake= on January 23, 2017, 02:32:57 PM

When I updated from '2282' via UI, I've still the old one: 12.0.88'.

In my case, I don't even get any, the AOS just isn't there in the browser.

So, do you mean, that they have no new one? That could be the reason, that it hadn't been renewed.

Certainly something strange is going on with the AOS, at least in Firefox 64bit.

1. Certainly something strange is going on with the AOS,
2. at least in Firefox 64bit.

Top1: I agree.
Top2: FF (doesn't matter, which version) didn't get better.

Not only on  Firefox 64bit,Google Chrome also has issue.

Just installed new avast! BETA on my netbook and AOS was also not installed. I guess we'll be able to check it out directly in the avast! HQ this time hehe :D

Is there any news about a new AOS or found the devs another name of it?
 ;)

Maybe the devs deleted it.

Is there any news about a new AOS?

There is: AOS 12.4.1234.0!
In the past I used I S E very rarely, this morning starting I S E the first time on this machine, I began to use settings and
AOS came up immediately!
So, maybe it's Firefox, blocking the new AOS! See screenshots, please.

After having deinstalled the old version '12.0.88', I've no AOS at all and a repair of avast in the free version didn't solve the problem.
BTW: The repair window is in English instead in German.

I installed 2285 over the top of 2280 and AOS it remained in place in FF51.0.1 and enabled.

Though the AOS browser icon is Grey and when opened shows no previous history.

EDIT: It is isn't working in searches, so to all intents and purposes it isn't enabled/working despite what FF51.0.1 add-ons section indicates.

To install AOS, go to:
C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\WebRep\FF48

Compress all files in this folder to ZIP archive. Then rename this ZIP archive from .zip extension to .xpi extension. Drag the given XPI file to Firefox. It'll ask you to install it. Confirm.

Also make sure Browser Extension is enabled in avast! so it can interconnect with the extension, giving you additional features like the SafeZone activation when on banking sites which doesn't work if you don't have it enabled in avast! as well.

Can't get this to work at all...

Browser Extension can either be installed or uninstalled in Avast (not disabled), created the .xpi as mentioned. Removed the 'dead' AOS in FF51.0.1 and restarted FF.

Dragged the renamed .xpi into an empty tab and it installed, but every thing reported in my Reply #15 is still present. Add-on enabled, but AOS icon greyed out, no results in searches or on clicking the AOS icon.

Tried all sorts of options/ideas, uninstalling the Security browser extension before drag and drop of .xpi, installing (no disable/enable) of the Security browser extension. No matter what I tried even though AOS was installed, it simply didn't work.

I think because of the lack of a disable/enable in the AvastUI Security browser extension every time it is enabled (install Component) it undoes everything that has gone before.

Not sure this chase is worth the effort, it will remain uninstalled now.

Same pain in the backside on 17.2.2287 (build 17.2.3409.0) beta.

The Security Browser Extension, isn't installing on Firefox 51.0.1 and this is only the 32bit version of firefox, running on XP Pro SP3.

Restarted avast and firefox, still no AOS - restarted the OS and still no AOS.

Hi Snake, FF ESR is not supported.
Thx, Asyn. But until now there is no reason to change to normal FF.
