Hi lbubb,

I was looking at the vps update history and its actually not as uncommon as it seems for 3 business days to pass between updates (I don't remember ever getting any Sunday updates).  You can look at it here:

See what tomorrow brings.

Virus grow daily? I think just in some specific parts of the year... In these times, avast is updated even more then once a day  8)

Well, why update if we don't have any new virus during THIS weekend.
We're not in that times WHEN there are a lot of virus in the wild...
Alwil software does not release placebo updates just to 'calm down' the users that want updates  ;)

Welcome to the forums, Ibubb.    :)

I can assure you that Awil does not close on weekends. In fact, I saw Vlk on the forum yesterday. There is always someone active at Avast. There have been updates on weekends when needed but, as others stated above, there are times when a few days will go by without an update. I know this seems odd because we often go through times when updates might come out every day or every other day. But, when you think about it, a few days without the need of updates is a good sign.

Please come back often, learn more, and maybe help others.    :)

There is no hard and fast update schedule, rather they are released as required. Most weeks there are about 3 or 4 VPS updates, but during periods of high risk virus activity I've seen 4 VPS updates in a single day.

that's really good to hear that they're so proactive & I've liked the feel of the program. I notice your running outpost pro, I was too till 3.5 & it would allow me to reconnct to my wireless when there are moments I lose connection, it was a great match with avast. I assume you've had no problems??
FWIW I chged to Kerio...

Hello everyone,

I certainly didn't mean to imply that the updates are not regular.  "Just frequent enough" is the way I look at it.

No connection or other problems even with version 3.5, but I don't use wireless, dial-up (spit, too far from the exchange). have you not checked out the agnitum forums, they aren't bad, not as quick as these forums but generally OK.

There is no way I'm using the anti-spyware plug-in though, I want my firewall to concentrate on its primary task stealthing my system, blocking unauthorised inbound or outbound connections.
