Title: Win 10 uninstalling Avast
Post by: mrformat on February 25, 2017, 09:05:17 AM
 >:(  I am sick & tired of Windows & Microsoft deciding what's good for me and my computer, but with my new laptop, I have NO choice but to stick with Win 10.  Can I protect Avast from being deleted by password protecting it?  Or is there another method that can be done in Avast Free edition to "lock" it in my Win 10 OS?  Please help us keep AWESOME Avast in our computers.

Windows 10 will not delete avast, only a user can do so.

You don't have to stick with Windows 10, there is FreeBSD and a lot of Linux distro's that you can use.

Well I don't know how to explain the fact that Avast was there when I went to bed one night, and when I fired my laptop back on the next morning (after Win 10 updates completed)....it was gone (worse yet, Windows Defender seemed to have replaced it).  I'm not kidding!  I had to re-install Avast AND re-uninstall Windows Defender.   :o

You can't uninstall Defender and Windows only removed av's in the insider builds.

Windows Defender turns itself off when ever a third party AV is installed.

Well, indeed some features of Windows Defender, not all of it.

The parts that remain do not interfere with Avast or any other third party AV.
It's basically as un-intrusive as Avast would be if you installed it in compatibility mode.
