Title: Can Avast Run in the backround to catch viruses?
Post by: REDACTED on March 23, 2017, 06:04:43 PM
Sorry if I posted this twice but I did not see my first post.

I accidentally downloaded this thing called videoplayer.dmg from savevideo.me I had avast scan and saw no problems but can avast run in the backround if this virus runs in the backround?

ALSO I NEVER OPENED The FILE I JUST ACCIDENTALLY DOWNLOADED IT! Should I worry? No strange activity so far.

thank you for your time.

with only one exception (that i know of) ALL AV have realtime protection, meaning they monitor/scan evrything that goes on in your computer when it is on

You can upload and check suspicious file(s) here >  www.virustotal.com / www.jotti.org / www.metadefender.com

if you see file as scanned before, always click rescan for a fresh result

What about it?

if you mean realtime protection, yes

you can test your AV with EICAR test file  >>  http://www.eicar.org/85-0-Download.html
