Title: Free avast will not complete installation
Post by: REDACTED on March 26, 2017, 08:41:06 PM
I am trying to install Avast ant-virus, I have downloaded the application. I have tried to install and it opens dark blue block and the bar just moves from left to right, I have left it running for a good hour and nothing happens. I have tried running it as admin, still does not work, I have restarted the computer still does not work. I have tried older versions windows 10 does not allow the app to install. Pretty annoying. It is a fresh Windows 10 install.

Picture included.

Did you use the on-line stub installation file around 6MB in size or the full off-line installation file 205MB ish ?

Off-line installation files https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=197955.0 (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=197955.0).

My fault, I didn't compose the question very well, as your 'yes' answer could mean either or stub or full off-line installation.  I have however checked the avast.com site and it is the stub-installer.

I would suggest you download the full off-line installation file from the link that I gave.

To help further the question right before me, it is ill advised to install Avast on any PC that has another antivirus solution installed. Windows defender in Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 are exceptions to this rule, because Windows defender automatically gets disabled if another antivirus solution is installed devices running these operating systems.

If you have another antivirus solution installed, you should completely remove it, before installing Avast. Also, make sure all Windows updates are installed, before trying to install an antivirus. Some updates to Windows require app devs to make changes to certain apps that may effect their use, if those updates are not installed. Not sure how much this applies to Avast, but it's worth a shot.

Another question. you say this is a fresh install of windows 10. If this was from a Windows reset, did you have Avast installed before resetting Windows? This could be important for troubleshooting.
