Hello.
I've just installed newest version of this product, and I'm really disappointed... On Fedora Core 5:
- installed from RPM package. Everything fine
- [root@fc5 /]# avastgui
basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/avastgui: line 115: /usr/lib/avast4workstation/bin/: is a directory
[root@fc5 /]#
WTF??? So:
- [root@fc5 bin]# rpm -q --whatprovides libc.so.6
glibc-2.4-4
[root@fc5 bin]# rpm -q --whatprovides libc.so.6
glibc-2.4-4
[root@fc5 bin]# rpm -qa | grep glibc
glibc-kernheaders-3.0-5.2
glibc-2.4-4
glibc-common-2.4-4
glibc-devel-2.4-4
glibc-headers-2.4-4
[root@fc5 bin]#
Ok, maybe i'm stupid, so:
- cd /usr/lib/avast4workstation/bin/
- ./avastgui
- ./avastgui: error while loading shared libraries: libavastengine-4.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
- WTF???
So...
- [root@fc5 bin]# ./wrapper-script.sh
basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
./wrapper-script.sh: line 115: /bin/: is a directory
[root@fc5 bin]#
- WTF???
So, is this a final version of this software? If Yes - sorry, but this is a really piece of crap, bad joke etc. SUSE 10.1 Beta same problem...
Any help?

For me, everything installed and works fine... Sorry I'm not that used to Linux to help you with this.
I'm with SUSE too and everything is fine. Oh, mine is not the beta but the last stable version.

It works fine on Ubuntu Linux. Have you tried running it form the workstation, rather than installing? I did this first and 'installed' the shortcut onto Gnome later (not strictly necessary).
Persevere! :)

This is a known problem with some installations. Fix will be soon. When? I don't know. Nobody knows.

I just downloaded the tar.gz version since I use Slackware. It works like a charm. I'm doing a review now. I still wish you could minimize it to the tray natively... But I can minimize anything to the tray. But I don't get any notifications, etc... (eye candy).
