Title: MSN 8.0 beta problems?
Post by: corealis on March 23, 2006, 09:53:40 PM
Hi.

My avast! installation began producing error messages yesterday. A red pop-up says it can't update avast! I was wondering if this could be caused by the MSN 8.0 beta? This is the only program I've installed and uninstalled the last couple of weeks. I uninstalled MSN yesterday.

Regards
me

MSN 8.0 beta = Windows Live messenger beta

Hi,

I also use Windows Live Messenger (MSN 8.0 Beta) and have had no problems at all since install.

Could you give some indication of your OS other startup software etc - which may be of use.

How long after installing MSN did you start getting error messages?

Have you tried to repair Avast in the add/remove programs?

Mike

Do you have a firewall, if so what is it ?

What version of avast do you have Home or Pro ?
Check that the Update Expiration date (in the about avast info) is still valid.

Have you clicked on the Red Error message to see what the problem is?

My avast started doing that, and it was just my Home Key had expired.  Got a new key and all is fine again.

Ok I finaly got the e-mail from Microsoft and I am now using Messenger Live Beta fine along side avast! so it is most likely not the messenger. Why not try turning off your firewall completely and see if it works?
