Title: Avast slows page loading on Opera
Post by: mrapi on May 06, 2017, 08:14:19 PM
Hi
I'm using Opera browser on W10x64,Avast Free, latest version
For couple days  I notice a delay of 5 seconds for a page to load in browser when my 2 installed shields (web and file shields) are on.
Disabling both shields=page is loaded instantly.
Disabling web shield not solving the problem.
thanks

W10 creators update, avast free 2294, Opera    44.0.2510.1449 (PGO) and not a single problem.

W 10 Creators Update Home 64-bit, avast internet security .2294, opera 44.0.2510.1449 (PGO) opens 13 seconds in sandbox, three seconds to avast forum, all while connected via VPN.

Not advisable to knock down protection shields as they would natively slow down loading of webpages.

Don't think 5 seconds is excessive; five minutes to open would point to definite issues, tho.

Endorse. There is such a problem (Opera, Slimjet). It does not occur in Firefox.

I to am having major problems with Opera loading pages really slowly (up to 10 seconds) since May 6th update. This needs to be looked at quickly as it is often causing pages to time out. I have had to go back to Firefox as Opera has become unusable.

Hi mrapi,
Does disabling fileshield only solves the issue for you, or both shields need to be disabled at the same time? Thanks!

The file shield is the issue here. It's been said on a few threads.

Also see similar Opera slowdown thread:

FYI. I have Opera 44.0.2510.1449 running fine with no slowdown on Win10 machine (AMD chipset) with Avast 2294. Other thread implies problem is Intel chipset specific, but I would be surprised by that.

The File Shield issues will be fixed in the next VPS update.
