Title: Avast secure line TAP v3 adapter is disabled
Post by: sirkipalot on May 18, 2017, 06:08:20 PM
Hi folks I wonder if you can help me out on a small problem. I have Avast VPN and have had it for about a year. Not had any problems with it. I am thinking that somewhere in an update avast has caused a glitch. When the vpn isn't live it just shows as an icon with x X in red saying not connected as it should do. But recently I have been getting a windows defender shield in the bottom right task bar the hidden ones you can pop up and see at a glance. the white shield has an exclamation mark on it. R/C to see what the message was and after it did a diagnostic it reported this message

" Avast secure line TAP v3. Adaptor is disabled"

Then it does the normal we have changed some settings to your device and the green fixed tick next to the problem. After rebooting all is fine for a few hours then I look in the task bar and lo- and -behold the  exclamation mark is back on the defender shield. I can only think that through an update something has gone amiss. Any help on this would be gladly received

Thankls in advance

Hi sirkipalot,

Welcome to the forums.

I've to think you are running Windows 10 or 8.1, as either also runs Windows Defender.  Latest version of 10 is Creator's Update, and that version has the Windows Defender Shield running even if you do not have Windows Defender running or you have it set to run in Periodic Scanning mode.

If that is the case, then what you are seeing is a scenario where Device Manager has Avast SecureLine TAP v3 marked as disabled only when VPN is not being used at the moment.

The reason you want to look at Device Manager was because of the error Windows Defender Shield was throwing in the first place, if I am correct.

If this is all correct, then there is nothing to be concerned about as VPN driver is functioning normally, shutting down when it is not being used.  It is Windows Defender Shield noticing TAP v3 as disabled (inactive) and reporting such.

If it is showing step 3, then we will need to troubleshoot.

Yes I was looking at that myself as I turned VPN on and then ran the diagnostic and there were no errors so it is as you say WD interfering again. I thought id got shot of that useless thing years ago lol.

Thanks for the help

Richard

You are welcome.

It is really a Windows thing in that it is reporting an error for some reason.  Avast is fine as it is.

Olá. Você tem o SecureLine instalado? Usando Google Tradutor. Você está tentando inserir a licença SecureLine e não está funcionando?
