Title: "The SecureLine adapter is disabled"
Post by: REDACTED on May 18, 2017, 11:26:25 PM
I have AVAST Premier and VPN on my laptop, with Windows 10. The laptop is less than a month old.

I leave my laptop on, but switch off the wifi when I am not around for a while. When I return and switch on the WiFi again, I am unable to connect or even pick up my wifi router/internet connection.

I then do a troubleshoot and I get this message: "The SecureLine adapter is disabled"

Sometimes the troubleshooter can fix it, other times not. All that works is restarting the machine, which is really annoying, where after I can connect again.

My Samsung phone connects to the wifi each time, no problem.

What is the issue?

The problem is switching off the Wifi.

The problem is switching off the Wifi.

Maybe I am not explaining clearly. I turn of the wifi switch on my laptop, not my wifi router or its internet connection. When I turn on my laptop's wifi switch again, it does not pick up my wifi network. I have to restart my laptop before it can pick up my wifi network.

What is not picking up the Wifi network if you switch it on again ?
The laptop ?
Or does Securline doesn't see you are connected again?

I dont know how else to explain the problem, but I will try again:

I have a laptop
I have internet at home with a wifi network I use
I connect to the wifi network with my laptop
When I leave my laptop, I toggle the wifi switch to the off position on my laptop to disconnect from my home wifi network
When I return to my laptop, I toggle the wifi switch to the on position on my laptop, to connect to my home wifi network again
Then the laptop does not see or want to connect to my wifi network again
I run the trouble shooter, but it just says the :SecureLine adapter is disabled"
Sometimes restarting solves the problem, sometimes not.
Sometimes the trouble shooter solves the problem, most times not
But, every time I disconnect from my wifi network, I am unable to reconnect.

Don't switch off the WiFi or connect with a wire.

That is the easiest yes, but there is still something wrong and needs to be fixed.

Why would there be anything wrong ?
It can be designed that way.

Why bother to design or install a wifi toggle switch on the laptop/Windows program in the first place, if it wont switch on and off?

Thanks for the effort.

I found this video and seems to work:

Hi macjohnw,

I believe this has nothing to do with SecureLine VPN. When you are disconnected from VPN, SecureLine adapter is disabled and windows somehow sees that as a problem but disabled VPN adapter can't block you from accessing your home wifi. I would try to find out what is wrong with your wifi adapter and why it can't recover from off state - maybe new wifi driver is available for your laptop?
