Title: Scanning the registry under win2k equals problem ?
Post by: blasiu on December 18, 2003, 01:21:34 AM
Have any of Avast! users come accross a serious damage in Windows2000prof.'s profiles? Having asked hundereds of questions I got that:
"...this is common and typically due to Anti-Virus software
locking the registry portion of the profile because it wasn't finished scanning ..."
I think the way out may be by forbidding Avast! to scan the Registry but how can I do this?
Will appreciate any answer. Thanks.

To whom did you ask? Microsoft?
Seems a strange answer, or better, seems a common answer: 'this is not a windows thread but anything else!  ;D

You can add the registry files to the 'Exclusions' page of the avast settings. So the files won't be scanned. I suppose, you must add Registry hives (SAM, SYSTEM, SECURITY, SOFTWARE, .DEFAULT). Anyway, I don't think this trouble (locking portion of the registry) is avast! concern... ;)
