Title: WTF??
Post by: jvidal on June 15, 2017, 10:50:07 PM
This is the weirdest thing I've seen in quite a while. I was downloading vpsupd.exe from the update servers and avast popped up a window saying the that file was a risk due to bad reputation. I mean, WTF??????????

Perfectly normal.
I just means that not many people have downloaded that file (yet).
Just wrong wording which we already have asked avast to change a while ago.
If you try it again tomorrow (must be the same file), you will likely not seeing that message.

still, it strikes me as extremely odd, that avast would label its own update as "risky" or anything, for that matter, they should really do better checks regarding file reputations. I constantly get this kinds of warning, plus the usual nightmare of false positives that has plagued avast for quite a while now...

You can turn it off in the settings.

Hi jvidal,

By any chance, do you have a screenshot?
