Thanks for the new beta :)

BTW since previous beta, sometimes I have a DNS problem with Real Site (site not loading, DNS resolution failing).
Stop/restart Real site seems fix the problem.

A troublesome scenario regarding Notification Center ( what has happened to me ) :

1 ) Open Avast - Settings - Components - ( for example ) Behaviour shield - Off / Stop ... - Yes - Ok.
2 ) Open  Notification Center - Problems - V ( arrow down) - Ignore.

- Notice there is a mention about Ignored problems.

3 ) Than again Settings - Components - Bahavior shield - On - Ok.
4 ) Open Notification Center again.

- Notice that the mention about Ignored problems is gone.

The problems are :

1 ) When you ignore mentions for one shield, all the other shields are ignored as well.
2 ) With this scenario you won't get mentions for the shields ( any shield ! ) because they are ignored, and most likely you are not even aware of it.

Greetz, Red.

EDIT : I got a quick reaction from Avast Developer Endt on Slack, that he sees my point here and it will be passed on to the product developer.

@ Red,

This really is annoying beyond belief, making changes to something that was perfectly fine (and found to be very useful to many users), only to screw it up royally makes me wonder the direction avast is taking.

The disappointing thing is this isn't the first change that has been made only to break something.

I can remember when beta testing way back in avast 4.x was unbelievably stable for a beta, not the beta testing appears to be a bit of a minefield. I have had to drop out of this beta testing sticking on avast! free 17.5.2296beta, any beta after that I was plagued by BSODs and I have lost the desire to continue that situation.

They should just move the old Status Monitoring settings access from main settings into the Notification center. And leave it as it is.

Thanks for updating!

...

@ David,

I can understand that Avast wants a notification center, a centralised place were you can (re)view all messages from Avast.
But the current implementation of status monitoring was ( and is ) simply not ready for Beta testing.

I have to say since the Notification area came in, it has been a pain in the backside.  This forum is littered with posts on the failures/bugs in the Notification area, false reports, duplication, multiplication, failure to show details, but runs a scan again, etc. etc. etc.

It's a mess.

Would also be nice it it was possible for users to disable the notifications count number on the tray icon. I can imagine people want notifications histor so you can look back what happened if there is a need, but don't want avast! triggering their OCD by showing a number on tray icon. I know it's bothering me a bit...

When installed beta, I got TONS of separate folders in it from Documents. Why not just protect whole documents, pictures, music etc folders instead of adding separate folders from within it? I had to remove like 15 of them and then add just the root documents folders instead.

Oh ok Thank you for replying, seems to be stable so far, except this Windows 7 Desktop so much slower than my 8 Core System lol, but in case of bsods or any other issues I tend to test on the Slower WIndows 7 System lol

wow so many old files on this system to get rid of lol, old games I never play anymore, some other misc files, download folder to clean lol

Is this problem solved in the latest beta?  See image attached.

(Sorry if it has already been solved in a beta version. I don't like to install beta versions, and it has been quite a looong time since we don't have a new stable version).

Thanks!

That seems to have been the way with the last few program updates, the beta session doesn't seem to have finished and bang the program release is out.

You aren't testing the beta as this was been released as a regular program update on 26 June 2017 as stated in Reply #36 just above your two posts.

This version was promoted to stable channel.
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=204588.0

So any comments should be in that topic in the regular Avast Free Antivirus / Pro Antivirus / Internet Security/ Premier sub-forum and not the avast beta sub-forum.

Tried it. Not impressed. Since you guys changed the interface it's like something is interfering with all my browsers and windows 7 interface. I used to be able to recommend you. I just can't do that anymore with where you guys are headed with this project. Is all the bloat really needed? I like a minimal interface and minimal system processes. I guess I have to move on. Such a shame. I'll be running Avast 2015 until I can find something else to replace your messed up garbage. Just reminds me of Windows 10 bloatware every time I look at it. Avast you can do better!!!

That's a very long wait when you consider the current regular release versions outstanding issues. Those issues would still have to wait until the next regular release after completion of the beta session.

Not good.

Yes,

But it has to do with the summer holidays, and some new features that are under development right now.

What day does the new beta come out?

We don't know.

Sometimes we hear something from Developers for example on Slack, but never more than a few days till a week in advance.
Most of the time ( beta ) releases come as a surprise for us too.
