Title: How to know which is the Avast shield that does not activate me?
Post by: REDACTED on July 01, 2017, 03:07:56 PM
I have a 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium notebook.
As an antivirus I have installed (and updated) Avast Free (the free version).
For a couple of months, I have been noticing a certain incident that occurs randomly (that is, it does not always occur, nor do I find any specific reason to trigger it) but it is happening more frequently (although it is not always happening ). The incident is as follows:
-I start the notebook.
Down to the right the Avast icon appears with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside it.
- I open the Avast user interface and the following message appears:
"He's vulnerable.
Some shields are disabled. ACTIVATE."

Clicking on ACTIVATE displays: "You are protected".

That is, the notebook is initially initialized with Avast "turned on", while on other occasions, it is initialized with Avast with the shields deactivated.

Observations:
- This happens both when starting and restarting from now on I will refer to booting without distinguishing both cases).

- If when I boot the shields appear disabled and I stay two clock hours without using the system ... they do not get up (there is no magic).

- If the activated shields appear the boot I can use the notebook for two days that do not fall.

- I used the following tools to detect malware leaving the system very clean:
Mbam (Malwarebytes Antimalware) 3.1
Eset Online Scanner
TDSSKiller
AdwCleaner
Junkware Removal Tool

- Use the following tools to erase "broken" entries in the registry and weed a bit to the system:
Ccleaner
Argente-Registry Cleaner
Glary Utilities

- Then I uninstalled and reinstalled AVAST Free (to uninstall use avastclear).

- The problem persisted. I re-uninstalled it and installed it following the following link:
https://www.avast.com/es-ww/faq.php?article=AVKB94 (https://www.avast.com/es-ww/faq.php?article=AVKB94)

- Windows is original with updates to the day.

- Avast Free is updated both the program and virus definition.
Program: 17.5.2302 (build 17.5.3559.0)
Virus Definition: 170627-2

- Dejo una imagenes para mostrar una idea mas pictográfica del asunto por si no me expresé bien:

Right-click on the Avast icon and then open Avast user interface

I see what it says:

Either you put SOLUTION of the second or fourth image, then the shields are activated, achieving:

- This is happening in a notebook. I have a pc with the same Avast. The pc does not have this problem. Both computers are not connected on a home network. They have access to the Internet through the same router.

- What I notice is that it is a shield that is not activated:

If anyone has an idea of what is happening I would appreciate your comment.
At least how can I know which is the shield that is not activated.

Thanks!

Hi  :)

I've seen this too!  :(
It's happened to me approximately 3 times in the last week.
But I also have another Avast problem of websites not loading because of the Avast setting - Enable HTTPS Scanning.
This is a problem that's apparently only affecting XP and Vista.
Note... I have absolutely no idea if the two problems are linked or separate.
It's just strange that I have no problems with Avast for years and years. Then two problems in just one week.

The shields down on boot up problem has not happened for the last two days since turning off Enable HTTPS Scanning. But that could possibly be a complete coincidence. As the shields down on boot problem does seem to be quite random.

@ Rozea,
What tool ??? Your problem has nothing to do with the problem described in this topic.

What do you mean... What Tool?

Like the original poster, I've also had the problem of the shields being down on boot up.
I just mentioned I was also having another problem at the same time. And how strange it was that Avast has never given me any problems for years and years. And then I get two problems in just one week.

That's why I said...
Note... I have absolutely no idea if the two problems are linked or separate.

My error Too! mistaken for Tool. (need better glasses, :) )
The problems are not related.

Hi, bob3160!

I do not understand what you mean :o

Components I have seen. When the error that I describe occurs, you can see it from such a window:

More information that I do not know how to obtain...

Ok! I'm slow today (and always). It is the "Escudo de Comportamiento" (in Spanish) that does not activate me.

Is it an Avast problem? Is it a notebook problem?

Any idea why this problem happens and how to fix it?

bob3160:
Thanks for the link!

I do not speak or read English well (I use google translate).
I would appreciate a lot if I verified that what I interpreted is correct.

What I understood was: it is an Avast problem that will be solved in version 17.6. For now, all I have left is to continue activating the behavior shield manually when Windows is started and it appears disabled.
Am I right?

Thanks!!!
