Got the following error message after installing Avast! v4 (home) whenever I run Outlook 2002.
The add-in "C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\AVAST32\Avoutext.dll" could not be installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair on the Help menu. Unable to load
"C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\AVAST32\Avoutext.dl...". You may be out of memory, out of system resources, or missing a .dll file.
I had uninstalled Avast! v3 prior to installing v4.
Any idea how I fix this?

I have Win XP, and have encountered the same problem. I tried the solution suggested, but there was no file with that name on my computer (extend.dll) to delete. The "funny" thing is that I get the error message on one of the two user profiles of my computer (the one that I did not use to install avast from), the other one works perfect.
Any suggestions?

It is actually "extend.dat", not "extend.dll" - is it just a typo, or you were really searching for extend.dll?

Sorry; I searched for extend.dat, but couldn´t find it. Any suggestions? All the best

1. Try searching the registry for string "avoutext". Remove its all respective occurences.
2. In Oulook, go to Tools->Options->Other->Advanced->Add-in Manager, and make sure Avast32 is not present (if it is, check it off).

Hi, and thanks a lot! I didn´t have any "avoutext", but "Avast32" was checked on the user profile that failed, not on the other one.
Thanks again for your fast help.

Thanks! This solved my problem:
2. In Oulook, go to Tools->Options->Other->Advanced->Add-in Manager, and make sure Avast32 is not present (if it is, check it off).
