Link works fine here.

The link also works fine here, clicking it takes you to an avast page and the referral link has the reference in it. Going further initiates the download of the on-line stub installer.
That said, I thought that the referrals building up a credit towards a free AIS version of avast was over.

Yes, I'm sure I've heard mention that the referral program had finished, some time ago too.

Which would make it strange that there would be a live avast.com page for it and the ability to download the stub installer. However, I didn't see any referral reference in the stub installer. But I didn't download it to test.

Well, yes and no.
They did stop it and at the same time they didn't.
If someone reaches the amount of referrals he can still get the reward if he is asking for it, it is not automated anymore.
Can't remember when but it can well be 5 or more years ago avast announced to change the reward system (some of you might remember this one was beta)
As usual with avast, not a single word about it since then. >:(

It stopped some years ago. Don't think it's been 5 years.
Don't have a clue were to get a license for all the rewards.
As far as I know, there aren't any more free licenses to the paid version for referrals.
I used to give them away as a prize after a presentation. But, that hasn't happened for a long time.
I now have other goodies. :)

I tried it, and it doesn't work anymore. Also my recommendation link doesn't work. Thus it is present in my Avast account. Also I see the number of friends who have downloaded the program. As said the solution is to change the Avast site to English (International) and then try to paste the recommendation link.

There is no point in changing language or anything else, the rewards scheme (referrals) ended a long time ago.
What is needed is for the web web pages containing any reference to referrals needs to be edited or removed.

Recently I used referral link for one of my friends and it worked (i.e. referral count incremented). I don't know I still can get a license when needed numbers are achieved :P
I also notice these referral links does not work if your website language settings is not set to English, or it redirects to native domain (for me Japanese, www.avast.co.jp instead of www.avast.com) and the link does not work (404 iirc). Once I changed language settings to English and again used referral link, it worked.
I believe this is what fenixx was said.
