What file do I link to in the box titled "Scan files for viruses using:" in MSN Messenger Tools>Options>File Transfer ?
AshAvast.exe, AshServ.exe, AshWebSv.exe, or other?
-
Welcome,
The instant messaging provider already scans this, but, if you want to also add to this use AshServ.exe

Many thanks for pointing out that the instant messaging provider already scans those messages, and that I can also link it to AshServ.exe.

Your welcome,

Assuming that you installed avast! in the default folder, this is the path and file needed to scan downloads, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe, not ashServ.exe
-
ashQuick.exe, not ashServ.exe
Sorry, my mistakeĀ :-[

No problem, now you know the correct file ;D but as you said NickWW shouldn't need it if his IM is supported by avast's IM Shield.
-
I'll remember the correct file for future reference.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the correction to AshQuick.exe (my path is different but still on the c: drive), and Mike6688 thanks for your input, too.
I'll look more closely at how my Avast in configured - so far I have just gone over MSN Messenger>Tools>Options>File Transfer inĀ MSN Messenger.
Cheers.
