Title: Deleting Passwords vault?
Post by: REDACTED on July 29, 2017, 06:46:42 AM
I set up Avast Passwords yesterday. Today, I can't log in to Passwords on Mac using the same master password. I suspect it's because I installed Passwords on my phone and used a different master password. I then synced using an Avast account and changed the phone password to match the Mac. At some point the Mac app crashed. I'm guessing the sync failed and my master password was somehow corrupted. The phone still works.

Is there any way to delete the Passwords vault and start again? I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app but the vault still requires a master password. I couldn't find anything to delete in ~/Library/Application Support/.

Help appreciated.

Roger.

Hello  Roger,

You can run the following command from your terminal to wipe the local data:

rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/6H4HRTU5E3.com.avast.passwords.PasswordsHelperApp

Please note that this operation will effectively wipe clean the data of the application that is stored locally.
