Hello out there,
I'm trying to renew my free private-use registration on an old home computer (running Win XP) that is still working; that computer ONLY works offline (i.e., no Internet connection).
I am not finding the path to get a new license key #.
My last license key # (valid till last week) was: C82849314H1200A0618-S75V3Z93
Please can you help?

I saw the page you linked states "older versions will keep working even after they've expired".
Then I have also updated virus definitions (by downloading the applicable file that runs offline) and the update seems to have succeeded.
YET, the protections are marked as "interrupted" and the Avast interface says "not protected", seemingly because my license key has just expired.
Consider that my Avast version running on that computer is 8.0.1489. ... a tough issue, isn't it?

If your system is clean and, it never goes on-line, why do you need an AV ???

Thanks, I don't know if that computer will support that version considering that is runs on Windows XP, however you're right and probably an upgrade will be the sole solution - in fact this issue doesn't seem to be solvable and Avast's total silence about it would seem to confirm so.

Especially good for you since it's technology doesn't require an online connection to do it's job. :)

The latest version works if you have SP3 and your CPU supports SSE2.

Thank you, unfortunately it doesn't work, I don't actually know if my CPU supports SSE2 or not, however this is what happens:

As a note, I tried this on two different computers with similar characteristics, and it just gives the same.
In the end, I'm afraid I will have to abandon Avast. Pretty sadly indeed, as I had been with it (and also promoting it to my friends!) for some like 10 years.

You can try this little analysis tool, CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html), that will show if your CPU supports SSE2.
See attached image example of my CPU.

So as I can see, there has to be something wrong with the installer: I looked up the error report and it seems plain to me that the installer is attempting to launch an Internet connection to send some statistics, yet I am using the offline installer so I don't see why.

Offline installation is officially no longer supported on Vista and XP because new CEF (only one bundled in offline installer because of size) is not supported there and the online installer will download the correct CEF version.

Offline installation is officially no longer supported on Vista and XP because new CEF (only one bundled in offline installer because of size) is not supported there and the online installer will download the correct CEF version.
I haven't had any issue installing the offline installer with my XP system, of course I was connected to the internet whilst installing. So we really need clarification on this also.

Well, that's the official statement from the team (for now).

This far, what I understand is that the Offline installer won't work on systems running XP or Vista if not connected to the Internet. Which means that the Offline installer won't work online. :o :o :o
This leaves me a bit perplexed, but what can I say -- if this is the state of things...

I would try the beta since it states that Network not needed.
