Title: Strange issue with Avast free subscription
Post by: CapriAnupam on August 15, 2017, 08:42:47 PM
I formatted an HP laptop of my cousin, and installed Windows 7 fresh. I installed Avast free antivirus, and I was expecting it to be a standard procedure of registering Avast free by clicking Register as before.

But, all I see is a strange screen now. It says under the heading of Avast antivirus free that subscription is active, and shows 29 days as remaining. When I click on word marked as Active, it even shows an activation code.

I am confused. How to solve this? Have things changed with Avast free registration?

Won't need to register, great!

So, what happens after 29 days?  :o

After 29 days the system will blow-up unless you find the abort switch and press it in time ;D

bob3160, thanks a lot. That does help :).

Was it so hard for the others to point in the right direction?

It was really bad attempt at humor to post, when someone is looking for an answer. That's why people come to forum... to look for answers.

The humor might have worked if you did post an answer with it, but otherwise, it was just in bad taste, sorry.

Can't speak for others.
Glad to help. :)

Thank you :).

I tried to Activate as shown in the video, but even after the two screens, where I chose to remain with free antivirus, the subscription did not change.... kept showing 29 days.

I then downloaded a fresh setup of Avast free, and uninstalled this one. Ran the Avast Uninstall utility, and then installed again.

This time, I did not have to click the Activate button, in fact it wasn't there, just the Upgrade button was there, and subscription showed for an year.

I don't know what happened wrong the first time. Quite weird.

Probably a computer gremlin.

They happen every once in awhile. :)

LOL, true. Have come across quite a few weird things when dealing with computers before.
