Title: Battling with Avast
Post by: REDACTED on August 16, 2017, 05:18:03 PM
It seems impossible to contact Avast directly via email to ask them to cancel my 30 day free trial of Avast Cleanup. Does anyone have a customer care email address?

Since renewing my licence for Avast in July, I have noticed a considerable slowdown in the performance of my PC. Any suggestions as to how I can remove specific Avast functions to improve performance without compromising security?

Am sorely tempted to cut my losses (the €29.99 renewal fee) and cancel Avast altogether to move to an alternative product. Any recommendations re alternative anti-virus products for PC?

Many thanks!

Sales - Orders and Renewals FAQ - https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB24#artTitle (https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB24#artTitle).

Depending on when in July, you may well be within the 30 day refund window.
Support Ticket Refund - https://support.avast.com/support/tickets/new?form=2 (https://support.avast.com/support/tickets/new?form=2).

You could also try an avast Repair or a clean reinstall if the repair doesn't resolve it.

Many thanks

I've cancelled auto renewal. However, I still have no way of contacting a customer care agent to get advice on which functions to deactivate in order to improve my PC's performance. Having to open one FAQ window after another does not constitute user-friendly customer care support.

All the same, many thanks for your post and links.

It would also help to know what Operating System you're using and what other security related product are installed.
