Error 0x00000005 means access denied.
Probably the file is in use while being scanned.
Nothing to worry that much  8)

So there's no way of stopping that error and warning then?

I've even excluded that file from being scanned!

I've even excluded that file from being scanned!

There are two exclusion lists...

For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the 'a' blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button...

For the other providers (on-demmand scanning):
Right click the 'a' blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button...

The file pghash.dat is a part of Process Guard and as such will be protected from any tampering, etc. other than by process guard. When I used to use the free PG (uninstalled now, with difficulty) I had to exclude that and another file related to process guard.

I assume that you do have process guard ?
