Title: is antitheft useless (?)

Hi all,
I've lost my phone two days ago. I'm pretty sure someone has found it.
I've tried with google and avast account ti find it, but nothing.
The phone is offline.
My question is: if someone removes the sim card and restore the phone, makes Avast useless?
