Title: AV products biggest obstacle for a secure browser?
Post by: polonus on September 11, 2017, 09:23:06 PM
This might be true just according to a Google-engineer: https://twitter.com/justinschuh/status/802491391121260544
linked blocked for me in the browser with a special filter...read here: https://medium.com/@justin.schuh

Views there are his own. A particular security development against certain Flash malware could not be employed because of AV solution interference.  Important safe practices and/or best practices are neglegted by AV software. An enormous attack surface will be added by using AV inside a browser.  Only Windows Defnder apparently has the intention to develop a secure product....
all this according to the views of Justin Schuh of-course.

This because AV demands too much rights to run, accotding to Google and the browser needs AV to run in the old fashioned way and likes to block more up to date solutions.  Important is also what the browser sends into the non-public cloud and seemingly is none of our "security'business.  Have we forgotten issues like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Presentation_Facility.
